About the Australian Shepherd

Australian Shepherds are a well-balanced dog of medium size and bone. They are attentive and animated, showing strength and stamina combined with unusual agility. Slightly longer than tall, they have a coat of moderate length and coarseness with coloring that offers variety and individuality in each dog. Their gait is smooth, free and easily shows agility and efficiency of movement.

The Australian Shepherd is intelligent, primarily a working dog of strong herding and guardian instincts. They are versatile dogs, make exceptional companions, and are easily trained… performing their assigned tasks with great style and enthusiasm! They are reserved with strangers but do not exhibit shyness.

Why do genetics matter?!

Pedigrees are a valuable tool in dog breeding as these ancestral records provide the knowledge necessary for predicting progeny performance… and most importantly, temperament!! Paying close attention to genetics and pedigrees truly is the only way to get predictability in health, structure, working ability/instinct, drive, and temperament. Breeding programs can be directed toward goals by selecting appropriate dogs that excel in those traits for which a pedigree needs improvement.

Here at Hyperion Aussies, it’s our goal to breed healthy, versatile dogs with stellar temperaments! Our litters will be geared towards performance and active pet homes.
